3-D short film competition invaZion 2010 with Hollywood jury and top prizes has commenced
14.1.2010, Brühl/Germany: Hardly any film competition is more in tune with the current film and media Zeitgeist than the invaZion 2010 3D Short Film Challenge, hosted by more3D. Ambitious film fans and artists everywhere are called upon to showcase their short films in 3D to an illustrious star-studded jury. Prizes worth EUR 20,000 beckon the winners.
3D movies are the 'shooting stars' of the film industry right now. The moviegoer wears 3D glasses in a suitably equipped cinema and can immediately experience the onscreen action closer than ever before. The fascination with 'being there' is box office gold and Germany's cinemas are getting ready for it - no multiplex cinema can afford to be without at least one 3D-enabled cinema theatre.
"However, only a handful of specialists have mastered the new medium of 3D film, which has its own rules for camera operators, directors and authors", says Ingo Nadler, Managing Director of more3D GmbH in Brühl/Germany. "With invaZion 2010, now in its second year, we'd like to motivate 3D graphic designers and film makers to grapple with this new medium and to give their imagery spatial perspectives - literally."
For this reason more3D has once again called for the production of 3D short films and their submission by the end of March 2010 at www.invazion.org. The all star Hollywood jury panel is impressive. It is made up of representatives from Dreamworks Animation SKG, Imagemovers Digital, Pixar Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Walt Disney Animation Studios and others - all experts in 3D film and all have worked on well known blockbuster movies.
Premium prizes supplied by the competition's sponsors valued at EUR 20,000 are beckoning participating artists. The lucky winners will be selected at the FMX 2010, the international film industry conference in Stuttgart/Germany. Prizes are awarded in the categories of 'Excellence in Visual Arts' for artistic merit and 'Stereoscopic Storytelling' for particularly apt use of 3D scope in the storyline. A 'Best Overall' winner will be selected for the best short film overall.
