The Hoesch-Museum reopened in 2005 in Dortmund, Germany. Located in a historical porter house of the Westfalenhütte, the museum exhibits 160 years of corporate history, technical development and the history and life of the steelworkers.
These historical events can be experienced in an entirely new and vivid way – in 3D stereo. Since mid 2009 more3D’s exhibit has been open to the public. The “3D Steelworks” conveys the feeling of being in an actual steelworks factory. Visitors experience the real dimensions of a steelworks factory, with its gigantic aggregates. Glowing steel illuminates the scene while deafening noise is the typical sound of that time.
These visual and acoustic impressions can be experienced in the multimedia exhibition, 3D Steelworks. A steelworker's helmet with integrated 3D glasses and specially developed software by more3D make it all possible. Visitors are asked to take control.
The 3D exhibit was initially created as a simple add-on and became the museum highlight over time. A look into the museums guestbook reveals many laudative entries. Setting a new record for melting the steel quickly became a competition for visiting scholar groups and is an everyday amusement for the museums personnel. There are many articles on the internet which refer to more3D’s exhibit (you might want to use google translate):
