FH Zwickau - Pioneering simulation with 3D projection in research
The Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau - University for applied science offers three major types of study: Technology, economy and life sciences. There are over 15 different degree programs in the subject areas of mechanical engineering, automotive technology and economics.
In special the automotive faculty takes advantage of todays possibilities. The simulation of complex systems are eased with stereoscopic visulization. The lecturers and professors of the university recognized this and contacted more3D. The idea of a complete driving simulator was born. And more3D is the ideal partner for this, we deliver:
- Expertise in 3D viewing devices
- Expertise in 3D screens and advanced components
- Expertise in 3D stereo processing of applications
- Expertise in Integration into existing environments
- Sustained maintenance and consulting
To check the contours of planned road construction projects 3D stereo visualization is indispensable. The street, the relations and distances are much more intuitive and faster recognized when viewed in 3D Stereo. Sutdents, Engineers and Professors are excited by more3D's complete turnkey installation.
The Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau uses the 3D advantage in many setups:
The secondary solution is a 3D workstation. The workstation enables students and engineers quick and easy parallel use of a scientific work-setup and a try-out mode. more3D integrated an advanced machanism into the table which made it possible to switch between steering wheel and keyboard within seconds. Yet we didn't just deliver the components - furthermore more3D did the conceptual designs over the setups to the final delivery while working closely with the users and taking their wishes and feedback into the final solution. Three 3D Stereo screens are powered by one single computer running the simulation software and providing the 3D stereo conversion of the visual output - in real time.
The main installation is very special. Four FullHD projectors create one 3D stereo image on a 450cm curved screen. The image source is again one single computer running the simulation software. more3D's software moreStereo3D converts the simulations visualisation in realtime to 3D stereo. The user sits inside a real car chassis, all controls of the car are connected to the simulation. This way the user not just sees but also feels the right feeling of a car. With the 3D stereo visualization covering nearly the entire field of sight and the haptics of the car this simulator gets as close to reality as possible.
