Emerson SKUA GoCAD in Virtual Reality for OpenXR & SteamVR, HMD, Powerwall and CAVE/DOME

This quick guide shows the necessary configuration steps to bridge Emerson SKUA GoCAD into Virtual Reality for SteamVR and OpenXR compatible Head Mounted Displays (HMD) like Oculus Rift, Meta Quest 1, 2 and 3, HTC Vive (Pro), HTC Focus, HP Reverb, Varjo, Pico, and Windows Mixed Reality. The guide also applies for bridging Emerson SKUA GoCAD for Powerwalls, 3D stereo projectors, CAVEs and DOME.

Guide to bridge Emerson SKUA GoCAD into Virtual Reality:

  • Start the moreViz Launcher
  • Notice the moreViz-Tray icon (next to system time) and right-click it, select “moreViz Application Enabler”
  • Click “Locate known Apps”. The more3D application enabler will search the standard program files folders for known Emerson SKUA GoCAD installations and add them to the list.
  • If Emerson SKUA GoCAD is installed to a non standard directory, please click “Add”, locate the “Pdgm_Epic.exe” file. The standard path is:
    “C:\Program Files\Paradigm\SKUA-GOCAD-22\Gocad\bin\Win_x64_10_v16\”
  • Mark the Enable checkbox right next to the newly created entry.
  • Close the Application Enabler.
  • Start the moreViz Client.
  • Start Emerson SKUA GoCAD and load a project, it’ll directly bridge the viewport of Emerson SKUA GoCAD into your VR space.

Quick Tipps:

  • For best loading / animation performance set the “Connection Type” to “Shared Memory” in the moreViz Launcher’s Connection Settings (only available for single-client setups, e.g. HMD or ASD on the local computer).

  • For best visual impression, set “AntiAliasing” to 4x (or higher) in the moreViz Launcher’s Client Settings

  • Quadro / Laptop Users: Make sure to have followed the GPU Config Guide.
