Museu da Baleia – 3D Whale Museum, in Madeira Island, Portugal
The island of Madeira is located in the Atlantic Ocean about 1000 km from the coast of Portugal. In the summer many whales use the rich submarine environment of the island as habitat.
Whale watching has become an attraction for tourists and there couldn’t be a better place to see them. The museum was founded to showcase the history of whaling, and also the protection of them.
The museum has something for everyone. For the younger generation there is a virtual 3D submarine drive. For the older generation there is the historic photography of Madeira’s whalers and their life.
The multi language audio guides make it possible for everyone to enjoy the museums rich selection. Lifelike (and sized) whales combined with 3D stereo documentaries offer a unique and unforgettable experience.
