The island of Madeira is located in the Atlantic Ocean about 1000 km from the coast of Portugal. In the summer many whales use the rich submarine environment of the island as habitat.
Whale watching has become an attraction for tourists and there couldn’t be a better place to see them. The museum was founded to showcase the history of whaling, and also the protection of them.
